SWAT

yesler at 19th is shut down. SWAT has moved in. Not sure where the “issue” is but I heard about 8-9 gunshots around 8:30ish….I thought Pratt park. Overheard the cops outside my window saying they thought they came from “the balcony” — which balcony, who knows!

All Purpose Pizza Brunch – LAST DAY TODAY 7/18

Sadly, brunch isn’t working out as well as we had hoped and the labor to staff APP with sales so low is draining my already financially fragile business.

Thank for the support of those who were able to make it. When things turn around I hope to bring brunch back – perhaps late fall – but right now the economics just aren’t making sense.

Thanks a million

Bar 19 – Project Cancelled

John and I are sad to report that our vision for Bar 19 cannot be realized.

We hit a hurdle with the health department requiring a kitchen that was larger than our original plan, which, in turn, would have caused a whole other litany of financial hurdles for us that we neither planned nor budgeted for. While we did plan and budget for some unforeseen issues, the workaround was one that would sap enough money to make the project impossible for us. Our designer Brad Khouri (www.b9architects.com) and builder Graham Black ( http://gprojects.net/) were amazingly patient and offered to help in any way they could. We just found ourselves reevaluating the project and felt that we just wouldn’t be able to pull it off in a way that we envisioned.

If anyone else is interested in the live space or bar or would like more info, we are happy to provide our plans and more details. A full liquor license is possible at this location. Perhaps someone who is better funded could do just a beer/wine joint with a pared back menu? email me if you want more info: [email protected]

I am sorry that we won’t be bringing a good anchor bar to this part of the CD! I know the community really needs a third place….Thanks for all the support!

Sincerely,

Kedra & John Olsen

19th & Yesler Closed for now

I just looked out and they have closed 19th and Yesler. The mayor is here (I assume) to speak with the woman who lost her kids today in the Fremont fire as she is a member of the Oromo (sp?) Community Center across the street.

It has been a hard day around here for sure….My condolences go out to her and her family and her extended community. I am not sure if they plan a vigil here, but the crowds seem to be gathering in support and mourning….

All Purpose Pizza Weekend Breakfast Starting This Weekend

Hours 9am – 1:30pm Saturday and Sunday only!

Due to the layout of our kitchen and the nature of our menu, we ask for patience as we adjust in these early weeks of service! The food served last weekend during our trial run was spectacular and we are excited to bring weekend breakfast to the CD (that is family friendly and delicious! And, yes, there WILL be mimosas!)

Small tweaks may occur to the menu with community feedback! Bear with us as we evolve!

On a side note – APP will close down between breakfast (1:30pm) and our regular pizza (4pm) service to clean up and switch to pizza production (which is entirely different than breakfast!)

Sincerely,

Kedra & The APP staff! (who are the ones who convinced me to open for breakfast! They are super excited!)
