Golden Wheat Bakery celebrates one month at 29th and Cherry

IMG_0070Golden Wheat Bakery has been slinging coffee, pastries, cakes and fresh bread at 29th and Cherry for one month as of Monday.

To mark their second month, the bakery has a new sign in its front windows (created with help of a supportive customer) and the bakery told CDNews they have plans to expand their menu in the near future.

“The neighborhood has been so supportive,” said barista Sam, noting that residents have helped spread the word via CDNews and other neighborhood networks.

Goods are baked fresh in-house daily, and they are working to expand their offerings to include more options like salads and sandwiches.

IMG_0071Baker Angel Rocha, who has worked in bakeries for a decade, said not long ago he was just one day away from signing the papers on a bakery in Kent when the property was sold and the deal fell through. But they regrouped and set up their business on Cherry Street.

The shop will be open 7:30 – 6:30 every day. Custom cakes and gluten-free goods can be baked with 24 hours advance notice. You can also follow the bakery via Facebook.

  1. It’s great to have such a slick little Bakery down here on Cherry. Golden Wheat has an impressive roster of offerings and they seem game to expand the menu where there’s a demand. I recommend the macaroons.

  2. Everything we’ve tried from here has been delicious. Especially the challah bread!
