Americans are eating outside the home more than ever, and the more we eat out, the more calories, fat and sodium we tend to consume, along with fewer fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The American Heart Association and WalMart Foundation have launched a program to encourage cooking low-cost, heart-healthy meals at home. Simple Cooking with Heartprovides how-to videos, tips, and simple recipes at www.heart.org/simplecooking. In partnership with Rainier Valley Eats, the American Heart Association invites everyone to prepare a healthy meal together at the Rainier Community Center, 4600 38
th Ave. S, beginning at 3 pm. Dinner starts at 5:30 pm. Please RSVP to Leika at 206-214-8892 or [email protected]. During the dinner you’ll also be able to pick up the free Simple Cooking Host Kit to help you host a cooking party with friends, family and neighbors, or download from the website.
