We got a tip from reader Alex that there was filming underway in front of the old Philly’s sandwich shop at 23rd & Union. We walked down there and found the corner bathed in lighting, with a young crew scurrying around the building.

A man involved in the production said that it was a movie about the Central District and Degene Berecha, the former owner of Philly’s who was killed in 2008 by Rey Davis-Bell.

The crew was busy so we couldn’t get any more information at the scene, but we’ll dig around this week and see what else we can find out.
