Controversy Brews Over New Fire Station

Today the Seattle Times reported that the proposed location for a new fire station in the CD has upset CAMP, which would be displaced by the move.

The city plans to decommission Fire Station 6 at 23rd & Yesler, and replace it with a new, larger facility at MLK & Jackson. However, that property is owned by CAMP, where they run youth programs and a food bank.

The article reports that City Councilmember Nick Licata is working on a compromise that would give CAMP additional benefit above the property’s $1.5 million dollar market value.
