The Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Nutcracker celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and five Central District children are dancing in this season’s production show: Amanda Allen, Enoch Kim-Shinn, Gabriela Lopez, Gabrielle Staddon-Smith, and Elizabeth Dejanikus.
All five performers attend the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, which is recognized as one of the top three ballet training institutions in the United States. Founded in 1974, the school offers instruction to more than 900 students.
The Nutcracker begins November 30 and runs through December 29 at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at the Seattle Center. Tickets are available through the Pacific Northwest Ballet website.
Congratulations to the five ballet students who won Nutcracker parts! Auditioning and waiting for the announcement of who got in, who’s Clara, Chinese dancers,Toy Theater, etc is very stressful and getting a part is quite an accomplishment. My daughter was a PNB student and was in the Nutcracker 15 years ago…You being in the same neighborhood- or area of town- is invaluable, especially if your parents carpool to the performances, like we did. It’s EVERY day until New Years, as I recall! All the best to you five in furthering your ballet studies! Congrats, again!
Cheeda1, yes, our daughters overlapped at PNB, Nutcracker was fun and work. Ballet carpool conversations are worth all the effort. This was before CD News.
Wow, congrats kids on all of your hard work getting to this wondeful time!
Proud of all local kids – especially our SGS students!
