Gas leak on 26th Ave between Spring St & Marion

The Seattle Fire Department has just blocked off 26th Avenue, between Spring and Marion Streets. Apparently, utility workers broke a gas line mid-block. Puget Sound Energy is on the scene and I overheard one of the workers saying that it may take all day to repair.

EDITOR’S UPDATE: More details from City Light:

Crews that were digging a hole for a utility pole did hit a gas line for an individual residence near 26th Ave. E and E Spring Street.

The line was not marked on the map of utilities in that area.

The crew reported the incident right away to get repairs made.

  2. No longer any gas smell. PSE has the road torn up but drivers can get through, and they say they will fix it tonight. Sounds like City Light will be back tomorrow to install the utility pole.
