Editor’s Update: As requested in the comments, here’s some background info on Alleycat Acres and their new farm.
I have no idea what this is about. I’m a frequent reader of this blog, and would appreciate some background on:
who they are
what they do
what they want
etc etc.
I think these are the people who have or had the garden at 22nd and E. Union.
I added a link to a previous story. Here’s the link: http://www.centraldistrictnews.com/2011/11/21/alleycat-acres
This will be their second farm in the neighborhood. They run the one at 22nd and Union and one on Beacon Hill currently.

Hey Andrew,
Alleycat Acres is an urban farming organization that works to build networks of neighborhood farms on underutilized spaces in the city. We began in 2010 and in the first year built two farms – one on 22nd + Union and one in Beacon Hill. Since, more than 400 people have grown more than 2,000 lbs. of food on each site. The food goes back to anyone and everyone involved in the process and can either take a share of each week’s harvest or donate it to a community organization which we do weekly deliveries by bike — currently, for the CD, we’ve partnered with CAMP on 18th.
This year we’re launching our 3rd farm, and the 2nd one in the Central District on MLK + Cherry.
On Monday, we’re holding a design/idea session to get feedback and thoughts on how we should use the 8,000 sq. ft. space that will soon turn into a farm.
You’re welcome to join that night. We’d love to hear any ideas and have input on how this space should grow.
You’re also more than welcome to email me if you have any questions – [email protected]
High fives,
Sean
