Schedule for Monday’s MLK events, rally begins 11 a.m. at Garfield

Many Voices United to Build the Beloved Community” kicks off tomorrow morning with workshops at Garfield Community Center beginning at 9:30 a.m. There is a rally at 11 a.m., followed by a march from Garfield to the Federal Building downtown at noon.

The Martin Luther King Celebration Committee announces the 29th Annual region-wide Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration on Monday January 17 , 2011. Workshops at 9:30am-11am, Rally at 11am, and March at 12pm.

This year we will March from Garfield High School (23rd Ave & Jefferson) to the Federal Buidling on 2nd Ave. Immediately after the March refreshments will be served at Garfield’s lunchroom FREE to all participants!

Seattle has one of the largest annual Martin Luther King Day Celebrations in the U.S. We honor  Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for his work toward racial equality and economic justice for all people, for his commitment to nonviolence, and for his stand against war and militarism.
