CleanScapes neighborhood improvement proposals needed

Got an idea for a neighborhood improvement project? A quick reminder here that the deadline for CleanScapes project proposals is coming up on July 31.

Since Madrona was one of the winning neighborhoods in last year’s waste reduction contest, the neighborhood shares in a $50,000 prize toward any capital project to be built in the winning Thursday pick-up area – in Madrona, anything north of Union and 34th.

Proposals can be simple – the online form is on the CleanScapes website. CleanScapes will handle the funding and the labor for the project, which must be placed in the Thursday collection area (which includes parts of Capitol Hill, First Hill, Madison Valley, Madison Park, Denny-Blaine, Madrona and Montlake).

Jeremy Hudgeons, the community council’s VP of Issues, is Madrona’s representative on the award committee; you can reach him at [email protected] with any questions. You can also check out the FAQ on submitting a proposal.

If you do submit, let us know in the comments – or just share your ideas for what you think the neighborhood needs.

  1. The CleanScape award was to the Thursday pickup area, an odd-shaped parcel including parts of Capitol Hill, First Hill, Madison Valley, Madison Park, Denny-Blaine, Madrona and Montlake Neighborhoods — anyone whose recycling is picked up on Thursday by CleanScape can submit an application for a community improvement.
