Summer Kid Activities: Swimming Leagues & Lessons

Seattle schools go on summer break on June 23rd, so many of you are probably looking for something to keep your school-aged kids busy and engaged for the next couple of months. The good news is that the city has a lot of openings for their summer swimming league here at our neighborhood pool.

Designed for kids ages 7-18, it provides an introduction to team swimming for novice swimmers. They’ll meet at Medgar Evers pool every morning at 8:30am from June 22nd through August 1st for an hour of swimming and instruction. More details and online signup is available at http://class.seattle.gov/parks/Activities/ActivitiesCourseDe

There’s other opportunities for elementary-school age kids who would like to start at the very beginning of swimming lessons. The city’s School of FISH program puts you in the water with your kid to learn beginning swimming skills such as water adjustment, floating, kicking, etc. The program runs every Saturday from 3:30 to 4pm at Medgar Evers pool, and this flyer contains a voucher for 10 free lessons for a family.
