Your Weekend Plans

We’ve got gorgeous weather today and it’s supposed to hang in there until the rain returns on Sunday.  Here’s a few things happening this weekend from our community calendar that can help you get out and about in the ‘hood:

  • Anniversary Sales: Our little neighborhood plant store is celebrating their 6 month anniversary. Stop by and say hi and see if they’ve got some green that can help your house get in the mood for spring
  • Theater: The Seattle U Fine Arts Department is putting on a production of Romeo & Juliet, with performances tonight and Saturday afternoon and evening. Tickets are very reasonable at $6-$10.
  • Rally Against Violence:  Tomorrow at 1pm at the Garfield Community Center. Would be good to have a strong neighborhood turnout here following Monday’s murder of Tyrone Love.
  • Oscars:  Sunday is Oscars night, and two local spots are having special nights where you can watch with a group:  Central Cinema (a CDNews sponsor) is hosting a “Glamorous Four-Course Dinner” with the show on the big screen, and The Bottleneck Lounge (also a CDNews sponsor) is hosting their 2nd Annual Oscar Party with special cocktails and live coverage starting at 5pm.

And don’t forget to get out and support all of our other neighborhood businesses.  MezzaLuna has gotten great reviews on their breakfast, and they’re now open for dinner too.  And the Twilight Exit is now up and going at 26th & Cherry – go have a drink and see what they’ve done with the new space.

  1. Sorry, excavation delays. We’ve rescheduled for Saturday, March 7.
If you’re still set to get your weekend community gardening fix, head for the Umojafest Peace Center Garden at 24th/Spring on Sunday at noon.

  2. When the rain starts again on Sunday, it will be perfect weather for making some soup to bring to the Central District Soup Swap on Tuesday!

It’s at 6 pm. You bring six frozen quarts of soup, and leave with a mix of six frozen quarts.
