Opening Tomorrow: MezzaLuna

We mentioned last night that Andre from Cafe Vega was involved in a new project in the neighborhood.  It’s called MezzaLuna, and he and his partners Lauren and Kim are bringing fresh baked goods, coffee, and lunchtime sandwiches to the storefront formerly occupied by Casuelitas in Judkins Park.

They’ve spent the last 4 months remodeling the space and have big plans for the future.  In fact, they’re working on a full weekend brunch menu that could finally bring a much-needed breakfast option to the neighborhood in the next few months.

Kim is the cook and appears to know her stuff.  I tried several of their pastries at an open house on Sunday and thought they were delicious.

MezzaLuna opens for business tomorrow morning, so check them out when you get a chance.   They’re located on the #4 bus line at 26th Ave S. & S Judkins St, just a block west of the light at MLK Jr. Way.

  1. I’m so happy to see this new business and will be sure to support it. But what happened to Casuelitas? It sure is a shame that they’re not there anymore…

  2. is now Island Soul, located at the old Wellington Tea Room at Rainier and Ferdinand.

And, after twenty years of waiting for a neighborhood cup of coffee, hooray for MezzaLuna!

  3. we plan to be there tomorrow to cheer mezza luna on! finally our own J-PARK coffee shop… and with stumptown roasters…
the place will be buzzing with neighbors and I-90 cyclists and more in no time!

  4. Just stopped by the cafe this morning had a ham/cheese croissant and wife had a regular croissant and soy latte. Good stuff. They also have cinnamon rolls, soup and quiche. They have two rooms, plenty of tables and outlets and the barista said they have free wifi.

  5. Thanks for the plug, Scott! I’m glad that everyone seems as excited as we are. Hope to see you all here! :)

  6. Wish Uncle Terry and I could come and sample some of your goodies.Hang in there and wish you all of the best things for you and your friends.

  7. I’m looking forward to stopping by. I wish you a long, prosperous tenure. an Irving neighbor

  8. It is so nice to finally have a coffee shop within walking
distance! I got an Americano, a slice of banana bread and
the wife had a cinnamon roll. All of it was really good
and fairly priced. The place looks amazing inside
and it has tons of seating available. So pleased!

  9. The food is absolutely amazing (try the cookies!!) and recently I ate a spicy peanut soup that was supremely tasty. It’s also gorgeous on the inside with a chandelier, leather chairs, and cute decorations in the green dining room. Oh, and free wi-fi! I’m so happy there’s finally somewhere to drink coffee before work. I will definitely be a regular.

  10. Brunch? In the CD? YES!

Please, Andre & Co., when you have a firm date for starting brunch, post some info on the site.

  11. I had the French Onion soup today, very delicious! I will for sure be going there again to try another soup and more. Great coffee, I love that they serve Stumptown coffee, it is by far my favorite. They will be seeing my face around there very often.

  12. The little lady and I went for a mid-morning snack today. Great quiche, great latte, and – I hadn’t realized this before – a really cool view out to the southeast. Lauren, Kim and Andre were all on site. We wish them well.

  13. Just FYI – they don’t have the credit card machine set up yet, so bring cash if you want to try the tasty goodies.
