From super-busy, Super-Tuesday:
9:11AM - 25th & Madison - Injury Accident . The acc - Injury accident. The accident left an oil/diesel slick that runs down Madison from 23rd all the way down to MLK. Vehicles are having a hard time making it up the hill now, with wheels spinning out on the slick pavement.
9:21AM - - Update: All lanes of east - Update: All lanes of east Madison are now blocked off, waiting for a DOT sanding truck to arrive. Update:
9:38AM - - Update: Madison is still - Update: Madison is still blocked because DOT didn't bring a big enough truck to get the job done.
10:05AM - Bellevue & E. Pine - Disturbance involving knives - Two men are throwing knives at a wooden door. Caller says it doesn't look like they're fighting.
10:10AM - 2000 block S. 9th Pl. - Man tried to break into t - Man tried to break into the caller's car. Caller thought he might be looking for a place to sleep, yelled at him, and the man started walking westbound.
10:23AM - 1700 block E. Columbia - Disturbance - Ex-girlfriend is trying to kick down the door to an apartment. Girlfriend described as a black female, 25, with pink clothing on. A couple weeks ago she broke the door down and stole some things from the residence.
10:30AM - Madison St - Police are opening up Madison between 23rd & MLK after DOT fixed the problems with the Accident - induced oil slick.
10:56AM - Hit & Run - Earlier in the morning th - Earlier in the morning there was a hit & run at 10th & Union. The victim got a good description of the suspect (white or hispanic male, 20s), and an SPD officer found someone who matched. Victim successfully ID'd the suspect, he was arrested, and his vehicle was impounded. Nice work!
11:01AM - 700 block of E. Pine - An irate citizen is yelli - An irate citizen is yelling and berating a parking enforcement officer. (hard to believe this doesn't happen every hour of every day of a PEO's life)
11:07AM - 17th & Columbia - Narcotics activity - Narcotics activity
12:38PM - Someone threw a rock from the Yesler overpass on I - 5 and broke the window of - 5 and broke the window of a passing car.
12:40PM - 2800 block S. Norman - Family Disturbance - Father was holding his daughter captive, refusing to let her leave. He later went into a rage and tore up all of the daughter's clothes so she couldn't leave. He then left the house on foot in an unknown direction. Black male, 23 years old.
12:50PM - 1400 S Lane - Shoplifting - Shoplifter in custody at Goodwill
12:56PM - 700 block 29th Ave - Narcotics Activity - Five juveniles, about 14 years old, smoking marijuana near the Nora Woods park.
1:01PM - I - 90 floating Bridge - Woman stopped her car on the west highrise of the eastbound bridge and jumped in
2:35PM - 21st & Jackson - Suspicious man near Washington Middle School - Hispanic male, 21, shaved head, goatee, plaid shirt.
3:04PM - 15th & Union - Disturbance - Woman on the roof of the Temple De Hirsch Sinai, refuses to get down. White woman, 20s. She's "acting strange and throwing things off". Possibly high (in the drugs sense). Waving a large knife toward the parking lot where her boyfriend and another woman are standing. A lot of kids and traffic are in the area because school is letting out, complicating the situation.Update: 3:32pm - Police went up on a ladder to get the woman, but she crawled down into a chimney that has a lot of heat coming out of it. Unclear where it leads, but a kiln was mentioned. Seattle Fire is on the scene to help, and may have to do a high-angle rescue.
Update: 3:50pm - It appears that the chimney leads to the boiler room. Her status is unclear, and it's not clear how they'll be able to get her out.
Update: 4:33pm - Woman is out of the chimney
4:06PM - 20th & Main - Disturbance - Black male hitting a black female
4:14PM - 29th & Dearborn - Robbery suspect contacted - Robbery suspect contacted by police
4:32PM - 1700 block 17th Ave - Caller says that man next - Caller says that man next door has been screaming
4:36PM - 200 block 20th S - Police asked to back up a - Police asked to back up a medic response that encountered hostile family members.
4:44PM - 12th South - Foot pursuit at the bridge over I - 90. Suspect headed down the hill towards the freeway. White male, red hair. Unclear what the root cause is. 6'2", 26 years old. Suspect taken into custody at 12th & Lane by some very out of breath cops. Evidently this involved some sort of accident on the 12th Ave bridge.
4:51PM - 100 block 13th Ave - Narcotics activity - Black males in the stairwell smoking crack

Have things like this been happening all along in the CD and we never knew about them until the CENTRAL DISTRICT NEWS came into our lives? Have to assume so, because there have always been sirens and helicopters; we just usually didn't know why. Thank you for being our eyes and ears!
