Seattle Section NCNW Membership Interest Meeting, July 10, 2011 at 3PM

Seattle Section National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is recruiting young and young-at-heart women who would like to fellowship with other community-minded women.  Our “Membership Interest” meeting is on ,Sunday, July 10, 2011, 3:00 PM, at the Douglass-Truth Library,located at 23rd & Yesler, Seattle, WA    Contact President Rev.  LaVerne C. The NCNW is a national volunteer service organization.  NCNW was founded in 1934 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, founder of Bethune Cookman College, with $1.50. 

In two years the Seattle Section of NCNW will be celebrating our 45th anniversary of providing literally thousands of dollars to worthy Seattle/King County activities, scholarships, programs, and activities.

Some of our activities and programs include providing scholarships, collecting scarves for our Cierra Sisters, an African-American breast cancer support group, publishing a monthly newsletter, an annual luncheon and an annual Summer Breeze Soiree.

Life Enrichment Bookstore 16th Anniversary Celebration

Gardening-Based Food, Nutrition and Wellness Fair.  Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 12:00 Noon – 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 2116 E. Union Street, Seattle, 98122.  Workshops on Nutrition on a Budget; Prevention of Chronic Diseases; and Weight Loss.  Cooking, exercise and Zumba demonstrations.  Pot your own plant to take home. 

Dr. Herb Joiner-Bey, noted author and educator in therapeutic nutrition, western botanical medical and homeopathy will present information regarding healthy eating and lifestyle choices.   Dr. Joiney-Bey is a graduate of John Hopkins University and Bastyr University (Seattle).
