Central District Schools March for Peace & Justice

STUDENT MARCH FOR PEACE & JUSTICE
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Friday, January 16, 2009
10 a.m. – noon

Several area schools, including Lake Washington Girls Middle School, Giddens School, and First Place School will be marching from Judkins Park to the NW African American Museum on Friday, January 16 to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.

Third and fourth grade students at Giddens School organized the Student March for Peace and Justice, and they have reached out to neighboring Central District schools to join them. They urge students to bring signs, banners, noise-makers and marching bands and gather at 10 a.m. at the Judkins Park middle playfield (2150 S. Norman St.), behind Washington Middle School. Walk together to the Northwest African American Museum, 2300 S Massachusetts St.,  for a rally at 11:00 featuring guest speaker Harold Moss, student speakers and a sing-along led by Kent Stevenson.
