The Oxfam Action Corps is a group of dedicated volunteers in more than a dozen US cities. We raise awareness by holding events and reaching out to people in our neighborhoods, town events, rock concerts – and, most importantly, in the halls of Congress.

Anybody can join the local effort!   All levels of experience are welcome.  You can also apply for Oxfam’s unique four-day leadership training in Washington D.C.

This year, we will mobilize a political response to the urgent problem of global hunger.  The women and men in poor countries who struggle to grow enough food to feed their families are facing competition for land and water, rising prices, and climate change.  We will call for laws that support women and farmers, sustainable practices, and resilience to climate change, and ensure a better future for people in the poorest regions of the world.

This is a year-round volunteer opportunity, with a deadline of February 14 to apply for the spring training.  Find out more and sign up at

Here is what previous Oxfam Action Corps organizers have said about the experience:

This has become one of the best parts of my life… I can’t express enough how satisfying it is to be organizing with people who are just as committed and dependable and passionate. It is so great to have the support from the Oxfam America staff, and I’ve been really impressed by their accessibility, competency and friendliness. – Isaac Evans-Frantz, Educator, New York City

For me the experience has really shown me the power of this type of grassroots work. At first it seemed like it was just a couple of us in our city, but as I saw the whole network of people across the U.S. working to achieve the same goals, it became really powerful. – Cathy Vrentas, Genetic Scientist, Philadelphia
