Central Co-op is dedicated to a healthy local food system, and to being a great community grocery. Support our work by running for our Board of Trustees!

Central Co-op is owned and directed by members of the community, keeping us rooted in our common values and accountable to our stakeholders. Our owners have the opportunity to help vision for the co-op’s future by serving on the Board of Trustees.

Every September, our ownership elects three new members to three-year terms on the board. These volunteer trustees strategize for the co-op’s future, oversee the general manager, and approve our budget. It’s election season, and we’re on the lookout for the folks in our community who are up for this satisfying challenge. Continue reading

Holiday Bike Sale At The Bikery Supports Community Cycling Resource

Bikery holiday bike sale, Brian Dionisi

During December, all ready-to-ride bikes are on sale at the Bikery. All sales support our volunteer-run non-profit resource for cyclists. Image: Brian Dionisi

The Bikery is an all-volunteer run, non-profit community bike project located in the Central District. We provide tools, supportive volunteer mechanics, and space to help you learn about your bike and fix it yourself. Lots of folks in Seattle head to us to work on their ride, from people who’ve gotten a lot of experience already and just need tools and workspace, to people who are just getting to know the basics of bike repair.

The Bikery isn’t just a DIY repair shop—we sell bikes, too! This month all complete bikes are 25% off. We’ve got rides from basic to fancier, fairly priced for a wide range of budgets. Each bike has been fixed up or checked out by an experienced volunteer mechanic. And if you’re looking for components, we’ve got those too, used and new. Plus, spending your hard-earned dough in our shop supports a local by-community, for-community cycling resource that is committed to building inclusive bike culture.

So come check out our shop! We’re located at 1265 S Main St. #104, 98144—our entrance is on 14th Avenue, between S. Jackson and S. Main, and you can always drop in during open shop hours. And we’d love to stay in touch with you on our Facebook or Twitter feeds.
