Mission Statement

The Pacific Northwest Black Community Festival is an organization that is committed to promoting culture, education, economic development, and unity throughout the African American Community. Developing and nurturing the potential of our youth and improving the community through the effective action and leadership and direction. Its exclusive purpose is to bring life, vibrancy, and a since of purpose back to our diverse community here in the Pacific Northwest.

Shaping the future of the African American community through a variety of Fund Raising Events, Cultural Awareness Activities, Educational Programs, Historic Archive Projects, and Economic Development Initiatives.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the festival is to highlight the history and contributions of the African-American in Washington State. It is a celebration of ethnic diversity. The Pacific Northwest Black Community Festival provides an opportunity for everyone from around the state to celebrate and experience the rich and long heritage of African-American’s through-out the Pacific Northwest.

The Pacific Northwest Black Community Festival encompasses a variety of activities all designed to allow the attendants to experience African-American culture and participate in a variety of family activities.

The festival attracts people from around Washington State. A variety of different activities and events are planned to make this year’s event a special one. The parade is planned for Sunday June 28th, 2009 in the heart of the Central District. The parade will feature groups and bands from around the community As in the past, the parade will be honored by a grand marshal. The carnival and festival running from July 3rd-5th at Judkins Park in Seattle, WA will feature arts & crafts, entertainment, ethnic foods, games, carnival rides, and fun for the entire family. Our third event is an athletic tournament featuring a variety of sports events for our youth. .

The festival and parade activities are all organized by the Pacific Northwest Black Community Festival. Founded in 1983, and reborn again in 2008 the organization is a non-profit corporation completely staffed and run by volunteers. Community business leaders are encouraged to participate in the organizing and contribute to the success of the festival activities.
