17th & Jackson Project Under Construction

Central Area Development Association (CADA) is enhancing the Central Area community once again! CADA is currently constructing its third mixed use project, 17th & Jackson. This $22.6 million project will provide the Central Area neighborhood with 59 rental housing units and 11,000 sq.ft. of commercial space. The project will replace a 30-year vacant lot on S. Jackson St. between 17th & 18th Avenues. The 17th & Jackson project will expand the revitalization efforts along S. Jackson St. westward. Project completion is scheduled for Winter 2009.

CADA, the project owner, is a non profit community development organization. CADA’s mission is to revitalize the Central Area by enhancing the economic vitality, affordability and livability of the neighborhood. “CADA is very excited to once again create a project that will positively affect the Central Area. The 17th & Jackson Project will promote affordable housing; stimulate economic growth and literally change the look of the S. Jackson St. corridor”, says CADA CEO George Staggers. CADA previously developed the Main Street Condominiums and Welch Plaza along the S. Jackson St. corridor at 23rd Ave. S.

The 17th & Jackson building will consist of five stories over two levels of underground parking. The first floor will offer commercial space suitable and affordable for local and small business owners. The building’s mezzanine level will also offer office space in addition to a conference room and an art gallery corridor. The apartment units will offer variety in floor plans, studio to two bedroom units, units with private decks and patios and units with scenic surrounding views. The units will be affordable to households at or below 70%-80% of the median income. The building will also include a rooftop deck and a courtyard entry.

Please continue to look forward to project updates on the 17th & Jackson Project. For more information, www.cada.org or contact CADA, (206) 328-2240. If you are interested in leasing commercial space, please contact Gretchen Hamm, CB Richard Ellis, (206) 972-1651.
