Spring St P-Patch–Ground-breaking work party 8/9

Mark your calendars for August 9th! The Central District Spring Street P-Patch needs the community’s help in clearing the land for our own urban garden to grow.

This will be a fun event for the whole family and we need all the help we can get to clear and clean up the site in preparation for garden building. Come for an hour, or for the entire day. There will be refreshments, pygmy goats (courtesy of the Goat Justice League), and a mosaic art project––in addition to the fun of working outside in the garden with your neighbors. Please bring gloves and tools if you’ve got them, we will have some on hand too.

Following the work, please stay for a potluck which will start at 4:00 pm—bring your favorite dish or salad to share.

PPatch @ 25th & Spring – Community Meeting 5/30/08

There is a new P-Patch in the Central District at 25th and Spring! For those of you who did not know, folks in the community have been hard at work obtaining a vacant lot at the corner of 25th and Spring and working with the city to get the permits to turn it into a P-Patch (aka neighborhood garden). The P-Patch is officially the communities and we are now in the development stage of the garden (for example, determining layout and design, etc).

As a community space, we would love as much community involvement and input in the creation of this new green space. We invite you to attend a public meeting on Friday, May 30 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Garfield Community Center, Kid’s Place Room. Following the meeting
there will be a Neighbor Meet & Greet with refreshments.
Even if you aren’t able to attend the meeting we encourage anyone who is interested in getting involved (there are many tasks with varying skills levels that we need help with) to come be a part of it. If you aren’t able to attend the meeting but want to get involved, email or call Rich MacDonald at [email protected] and 206-684-0264.
