UmojaFest PEACE Center revitalizes Youth and Family Urban Gardening

The UmojaFest Peace Center, located on 24th and Spring, has been a beacon of positivity in the Central District Neighborhood. Now, this Fall, the UPC is revitalizing its urban gardening program with “UPC GROW”, a Community Youth and Family Urban Gardening Project with the intention of creating a learning space to share ideas on how to grow healthy and nutritious food for local families and children.

Join today as a mentor or community member, and help a young person learn some cool ideas about gardening and nutrition! This is part of the UmojaFest PEACE Center’s community outreach work – Transforming Negative Culture to Positive Culture.

The UPC has created a facebook page, be sure to check it out and add yourself!!:
We are looking for a couple things and seeing if you can help us or point us in the right direction. What we need is;
– Starts (Broccoli, Cabbage, Kale, Collards, Carrots, Garlic, Beets, Snap Peas, and Onions)
– Compost… any hookups from the orgs you are a part of?
– People to mentor the kids!! Interested or know of anyone who would be down?
Thank you to the CD and surrounding communities for helping raise our youth and families with positive and insightful information and projects!
Peace!
