Safe Routes To Schools program working to slow down MLK

The effort to slow down traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Way will take another step forward this summer when the city adds flashing school zone markers to the 1300 block of the street where it runs next to Thurgood Marshall Elementary.

It’s part of the city’s Safe Routes to Schools program that is making sidewalk and traffic calming improvements to roadways all over the city.

A smaller project underway now is adding new curb ramps to the corners of the intersection at 26th S. & S. Dearborn.
