Today we stopped by the vacant lot at 22nd & Union that Alleycat Acres is working on, and found a group of about a dozen volunteers hard at work to turn the corner property into a new community garden.

Scott McGowan, one of the organizers, told us that they’re getting closer to finishing the garden preparations, and hope to start planting later this month. There’s two more work parties scheduled on 7/14 and 7/17 to finish things up.

We also heard some interesting info on the history of that corner that we’re digging into to confirm – stay tuned for more.
