Mayor Makes a Visit to the CD

I went along with the group for the Mayor’s walk up and down Jackson St. today. This is something he typically does once a year in each neighborhood to meet people in the community and listen to their ideas and concerns.  He brings along various officials from the SPD and other city departments to help answer questions or assign tasks for follow-up.

The event started at the 23rd & Jackson Promenade and headed eastbound, with the mayor stopping to talk to business owners, ministers, and community members along the way. After checking out the unusually quiet scene at Flo Ware Park, it headed back west, with stops at the Seattle Girl’s School, Wilson’s Barber Shop, Hidmo, Pratt Arts Center, and finally ending at the new CADA mixed-use complex at 18th & Jackson.

Unfortunately, the event ran long and the scheduled Q&A was cancelled.

Here’s a sample of the event in photos:

  1. So did he answer any questions as to why this area is just about completely ignored when it comes to city maintenance? I know his focus is Belltown now, but could we, the heavily taxed residents please have a few bread crumbs??

  2. My favorite part of the walking tour was a woman at Everybody Health and Fitness telling the Mayor to “Fix it!”
