how does the victim know the robber’s name? was this not a random act of violence?
also, scott, do you have any suggestions on how to deter becoming a victim of this seemingly growing trend of robberies? Someone was stabbed after being robbed last night at 16th and Olive. I know that you attend the east precinct meetings and was wondering if the police have made any suggestions as to how to stay alert, etc. I will start carrying less cash on my person for sure…maybe it also helps that I walk with my dog quite often.

As for that particular assault, it sounded like the two parties knew each other from the street, i.e. it wasn’t a random crime.
