Night Out Next Week

Next Tuesday, August 5th, is Night Out, a national event to prevent crime by building stronger communities.  It’s your opportunity to block off your street and spend some quality time with your neighbors.

Tougo has a big night planned for their area.  To get your own block party started, fill out this application by Saturday 8/2:

It will give you full authority to block off your street and make room for a barbeque, a few chairs and a cooler, or whatever other excitement you want.

Planning something for your street?  Let us know in the comments below…

  1. Last year’s multi-block party drawing from (approximately) 21st and 22nd Avenues between (approximately) Olive and Marion was pretty successful, so we thought we’d try it again. 6-9pm. We’ll have a grill there – bring grillables, side dishes, beverages. Last year a fire truck showed up and kids got to climb on board. Please bring your ideas for fun kid games (hopscotch? four square?) to “take over” the street. And looks like we’ll have a DJ with some party music again.

We didn’t know about the Tougo thing though… perhaps people can visit both (Tougo’s starts at 4pm).

  2. There will be a potluck for the 25th folks between Union and Marion near the corner at 25th/Spring (near the new P-Patch site!) Folks on 24th and 26th in the same vicinity are also organizing festivities.

If anyone’s interested in Feet First’s Central District walking maps to distribute at your night out, drop me a line at johns @ feetfirst.info and I can get you some delivered!
