Green Moving

The PI has a cool story about some CD residents who moved all their belongings into their new house without burning an ounce of fuel. Instead, they enlisted friends with shopping carts, bike trailers, and wagons to haul everything from mattresses to goldfish.

They estimated it would take about 12 round trips.

“I was totally up front. I didn’t say ‘Will you help me move?’ and sneak it in later,” he said. “I was like ‘Will you help me walk my stuff?'”

At the old rental house, there were debates over the best way to move a goldfish, and palpable relief that the eight-foot couch would not be making the trip.

It used to be that having a pickup truck would put you on every distant friend’s list of moving help. I wonder if bikes will do the same in our new world of expensive gas…
