Congratulations to our neighbors to the east who have finished their long-running project to restore Madrona Creek and reconnect it in a natural way to Lake Washington.
That’s actually one of my favorite walks in the neighborhood. A good route is to find your way to Columbia St. and then head east towards the lake. After going up through Madrona and back down again, you’ll eventually dead-end into a forest, where there’s several nice paths that will take you through the trees and down to the lake. Beware that the hills make it a really good exercise, and depending on your walking speed it will take an hour to an hour and a half to do it.
But if you have the time, it’s definitely worth it. And with the new natural setting of the creek, there’s a lot more to look at once you get there.
And if you want to learn more about the group that’s accomplished this, you can find their website a http://madronawoods.org
I love this part of Madrona. I always wondered who maintained it. I think that the CD should annex that park. Or, take it by force. : P
