Neighborhood Groups?

Does anyone of any neighborhood groups for the Central District? I tried to find out by contacting the city’s neighborhood services, but of course, they had no useful info.

  1. My community group is Squire Park. (boundaries are 23rd Ave, 12th Ave, E. Union St., and Jackson St.).

The next meeting of the Squire Park Community Council is next Tuesday 12/4:

    Langston Hughes
    Performing Arts Center
    104 17th Avenue South
    (17th & Yesler)
Look for signs to the room

  2. The CNA has been active for at least 25 years. It goes approximately from 18th to MLK, Pine or Union to a couple of blocks south of Cherry. The CNA was the group that sponsored the Union Street Improvement Project which in turn sponsored seven annual Central Area Garden Tours. We had over 800 visitors to the biggest tour. We aren’t having regular meetings at the moment, but do walks, trash pick ups and meet for dinners. Work is also on-going forming Block Watches and disaster preparedness efforts.

  3. Ted Divina works for the city as our Neighborhood District Coordinator, and he’s provided a very useful list of all the various groups that are organized in the CD. I’ve attached it as a PDF to this story – just look up near the top of the post.

BTW – If you have any questions for Ted, you can reach him at 206-233-7257
