New art shows up in another vacant lot at 23rd & Madison

Although we’ve lost one set of neighborhood art, we’ve suddenly gained another at 23rd & Madison.

It’s composed of several easels holding brightly-colored paintings and one painted door with a unicorn bird, a sword, and a bullfrog:

The art was brought to our attention by twitterer Travam. So far we don’t have any details on the who or why, but will let you know when we hear more.

  1. glad to see such beautiful bright pictures….true saying when one door closes, another one opens.

  2. it’s called UNI-STORK

and if you all don’t mind i would like to leave it up until someone steals it or hurts it

  3. thanks for the fun art install, whoever you are. We are LOVING it! Are you the same person who did the collage last month in the same locale?

  4. to brighten up the community. I am not all that knowledgeable about art, so i am glad that i can now call the art by its proper name. I LOVE the artwork and LOVE the way it puts a beautiful positive bright light on our community. Gia

  5. I was very happy to see this appear on such an odd patch of land! Absolutely 100% in support of this and more in the future- thanks much for sharing with all of us.

  6. I just figured out who you are, Julian told me. The style seemed familiar, I hadn’t put it together. You’re awesome, Neil! Maybe you could do same at 23rd and Union, or at the old Deanos site? Jim Mueller seems agreeable to public art.

  7. To NEIL: I know I’m a little late, but I saw more of your work on Yesler and 17th (i think). I’m wondering if you have a gallery or if any of the pieces are available for purchase.

I’m just a poor teacher, but find your pieces really interested. I’d love to talk with you about them.

To ANYONE: Please let me know if you’re aware how to contact Neil/this artist. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sam
