I'm sure you've got one too - that bike down in your basement that you've been wanting to ride, but the chain is rusted through and the brakes just don't do it anymore. Take it to Alex in our neighborhood bike shop and get it tuned up, then you can get out and go for a nice ride.

Where do you go for great coffee and awesome fresh baked cookies, scones, muffins and more? Café Vega is a family owned and operated coffee house and micro-bakery on the corner of 20th and Yesler Way that offers the best baked from scratch cookies, scones, and muffins in the area, as well as a good cup of joe and a friendly service.
When I purchased the shop from it's previous owner, I really wanted to create an inclusive environment where all of the diversity that is our community could meet, hang out, work, and share ideas. Since then, we have come a long way. It's awesome for me to see all of the meetings, kids, dogs, neighborhood youth and just everybody from all kinds of backgrounds and age groups hanging out eating cookies and talking, relaxing, or pounding away on their laptops. We feature: *Stumptown Coffee and Espresso drinks... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (0 reviews)

One of the gems of the CD, Central Cinema lets you sit in comfy booths, enjoy a good beer, eat some pizza, and enjoy a classic movie.

Great, reliable, and affordable dog walker. Don't let the name fool you as they walk dogs in the CD too. Lisa is so flexible with our changing schedule and even sends us pictures of our dog while she takes her on a walk. Our dog LOVES Lisa and gets so excited whenever she sees her. I highly recommend Dogs on the Hill!

Located in the old Lloyd's Rocket at Yesler & Boren, this is the 2nd location for a restaurant that got its start up in Greenwood and developed a big base of fans up there. They've got a wide variety of traditional Hawaiian fare, such as Hawaiian BBQ Beef, Hawaiian Fried Rice, Pork Adobo, seafood, all-day breakfast, and more.

Located on the corner of 23d and Dearborn, Parnell's meets all the requirements of a neighborhood gathering spot: non-resident owners, non-resident operators, a large, asphalt parking lot for easy access, cluttered windows, bars on the doors, and a conveniently located pay-phone for entrepreneurs who have yet to get their first cell phones. And Parnell's offers a wide range of products for the discriminating consumer: cigarettes, alcohol, super-sized t-shirts, candy, deep-fry, newspapers, and even milk. But it's not the interior (dark and a little dingy,) nor the variety that attracts shoppers from all over Seattle, but the truly awesome deals on non-prescription drugs, and crack-ho-hookups available in the parking lot. Now Parnell's is not one stop shopping, deals are made in the parking lot, but the goods are collected a half-a-block up 23d. Slightly inconvenient (for a convenience store,) but not as inconvenient as, say, a bullet to the head. I would recommend Parnell's Parking Lot to anyone with the...

The Skillet folks have a traveling Airstream trailer of tastyness that rotates around to different places in the city. Their food has met wide acclaim, including a recent nationwide mention in Time magazine.
Their standard is the Kobe style burger with fries - very very good. The rest of the menu changes from day to day, so check out their website ahead of time for details.
Starting April 21st, they'll be stationed on 13th & Marion every Monday. So definitely check it out. For other days, refer to the calendar on their website to see where they're stationed.

Every Sunday try the grilled cheese sandwich and Bloody Mary combo for just $10 - cited as "one of the best damn grilled cheese sandwiches you've ever had" by NWSource.com. This one is a boarderline CD business, but after I saw somebody call Casualita the CD, I thought I had to post about this place.
Wife and I found it on a whim. We wanted to thai but didn't want the old stand-bys. I found a review of this place on the interweb and decided to check it out. We ordered to go based on what we liked and found it amazing. Their currys are outstanding, because it is a Thai/Laotian place their noodles aren't your typical thai varities (no ketchup), their whole fish is insanely good, and the coup de grace is the sticky rice. Over order if you have to, this stuff will be used to mop up everything that isn't a noodle, vegetable, or piece of meat or tofu.
I'm told the mango salad is great and I can confirm the spicy beef appetizer is incredible.
This place only takes cash, so be prepared. It's in a mini-strip mall on the east side of MLK as you head south on MLK toward Rainier.
