Join your neighbors and Jackson Commons, as we beginning planning for HOPSCOTCH CD, a mile long hopscotch course from Jackson Street to Union Street.

Hopping all the way across the Central Distict? You bet! You can imagine it right? A bit of extreme hopscotch! Hula hoop and jump rope competitions, a nice early summer day to stroll through the neighborhood and chat with your friends, while maybe having a picnic while drawing on the sidewalk.

We’ll certainly being having a few meetings to get this planned, so if you can’t make tomorrow night, there will be lots of opportunities to get involved. Email for meeting address: Jacksoncommons@gmail.com or just send us your ideas.

As always: Jackson Commons is on Facebook at Jackson Commons Seattle and on Twitter @JacksonCommons. We’re big proponents that the best way to work together on the many hard problems in our neighborhood is to find ways to also have fun together. Did you see the pictures from our first Festival of Lights in magical Judkins Park? More of that and less shootings we say. More fun, please!

It might be a bit like this (pictures from Hopscotch Detroit and whose awesome idea we’re totally poaching):

Here’s the proposed route:

1.8 miles of fun!

  1. This is the coolest thing ever! I can’t make it to this meeting, but I am so excited for the upcoming festivities. Thank you.

  2. First meeting was swell. Lots of great ideas… We’ll have another planning session in mid-February…but hope to get a map out in the next week or so with the date…as we are encouraging folks to come up with their own event on the course!

The more cool stuff we can think of to do on the course, well, the more fun it will be to play all day!

  3. Count the Central Seattle Drug Free Communities Coalition in on the Hopscotch event. We’ll encourage and connect with youth from GHS, WAMS, and Madrona K-8 to be involved in making this event a success
