Arcaro Boxing Gym to open at the Jefferson aparments

The Central District will soon have another boxing gym. Arcaro Boxing Gym signed a lease for a street-level space at the Jefferson apartment building on 12th Avenue and E. Jefferson Street. Arcaro will offer training and coaching for non-competitive, amateur, and professional boxers.

Gym owner Tricia Arcaro Turton is a Central District resident and has coached boxers since 2004. She is currently working with Olympic hopeful Jen Hamann, who is a 2013 Continental Champion and 2013 USA Boxing National Champion.

“Arcaro Boxing will be a place where boxers can develop skills to succeed in the gym, at school, at work and home,” Turton said in a press release. “We look forward to a long relationship there with Capitol Hill Housing and the community.”

The boxing gym will cover 1,250 square feet and is hoping for an August open date. The Jefferson opened in October 2012 with 40 apartments aimed at working individuals and families. The building is sustainably designed and was made possible with funding from the City of Seattle Housing Levy and the State of Washington.
