From the blotter:

Officers continue to search for the suspect in a shooting in the Central District that left one man wounded.

At approximately 5:18 p.m. officers responded to 911 calls of shots fired in the alley behind the 900 block of 26th Avenue.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the adult male victim was exiting his gated yard into the alley when he heard a male voice yell something.  He then heard a single gunshot and was struck in the leg by a bullet.  The victim ran away from the shooter and back into his house. His mother began to drive him to the hospital when responding officers arrived.  The victim summoned the officers for assistance.

The officers called fire department medics to the scene.  The medics subsequently transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury.

Witnesses observed a black male suspect running southbound through the alley with a gun in his hand.  Officers conducted an extensive area search however, the suspect remains at large.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20′s, last seen wearing a black baseball cap and a black sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police and refer to this incident.  Anonymous tips are welcome.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.

    • No doubt – always some sketchy shit happening around the houses at the southwest and southeast corners of 27th and Spring.

    • No description on suspect. Victim is man in his 30s. Police are searching area, and we’ll post a description if we get one.

  1. Geez, this is moving closer in to where I live… that is a block from my house. And to think, I was at Starbucks on Tuesday when that shooting popped off. Exercise caution & awareness of your surroundings, y’all.

    • From what I’ve gathered from my sources (AKA my neighbors), the choppers were TV choppers. I can’t confirm it wasn’t the King County copter, but I do not believe so.

  2. Thanks, Tom! The minute I hear helicopters I look straight to CDnews….always on it. thank you!

    • If you do not already follow us at @CDNews on Twitter, we usually tweet before we get a post together here. If you don’t use twitter, you can bookmark the following page to check our updates: https://twitter.com/cdnews

      • Thanks Tom – Great job by CDNews to keep us all up to date! Glad the chopper is gone – always nerve wracking when it is just hovering. Seems like way too many shootings ruining our good neighborhood – what can we do to partner with the police to improve things?

  3. I usually run from about Union to South Judkins and back along 27th. I think maybe I’ll start running north. This is getting ridiculous. I suggest that the cops that have the CD beat literally take their lunch breaks and just park in front of the 27th and Spring houses for like 3 months.

  4. 3rd watch officers indicated that the man who was with the victim, his cousin, lives in one of the houses at 27th and Spring. It doesn’t make it better, but perhaps means that it’s not really spreading, it’s staying at those two gang houses there.

    • I guess there’s some consolation that it wasn’t a random crime. But to hear that its related to those gang houses…yet again…asks what does it take to get this to stop? I for one am so tired of having to endure shootings after shootings. I’m of the mindset now that the houses should just be bulldozed and be done with it.

      • Unfortunatley they do imposed on the rest of us from time to time. Break ins, kicked in doors, yelling past midnight on school nights and bullets flying during shootouts. These things don’t only happen at those two houses but they often involve people from those two houses.

  5. Write the Mayor, demand action to reduce crime/shootings in the Central District. He has to hear from the residents of the neighborhood so that this is taken seriously and there is some ACTION to prevent these crimes!.

    • Welcome to the containment zone. Until legal pressure is put on the city to stop keeping the CD a containment zone for all the criminal scum no one else in the city wants to live around, expect more of the same. The purge during the weed and seed era of the 1990′s did not go far enough in abateing properties. When those who did serve time got out they allowed them to be paroled back in the CD.
