Fire Department puts out second story mattress fire at 32nd and Cherry

Seattle Fire responded to a report of smoke and a small fire in the upstairs bedroom of a 32nd and Cherry home shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The fire, possibly a mattress fire, was put out about ten minutes after the call went out.

We'll update as we learn more.

1:59PM - According to Kyle Moore from SFD, the second-floor mattress fire was stamped out in just two minutes.
2:32PM - The fire was started by a mini fridge that shorted out and caught a mattress on fire. The occupants were not home, and a neighbor called it in. Damage is estimated to be a couple thousand dollars.
