CD Public Art monthly meeting tonight!

Sorry for the late posting, January is flying by too fast already.

Tonight is the monthly (4th Monday of each month) meeting of the CD Public Art Project. We are a group of CD residents who got a wild hair about creating public art in the Central District. We applied for and rec’d a grant from the Dept of Neighborhoods for the planning and outreach portion of the project. (This project is funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.) Tonight’s meeting will be 7 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 2116 E Union.

Our basic premise is to create art that reflects the character, history and pride of the Central District. All ideas for what art might be created will be collected from the community at three public meetings. These public meetings, or charettes, are scheduled for March 19 2:30pm Central Area Senior Center 500 30th Ave S, March 28 6:30pm The 2100 Building, 2100 24th Ave S, and April 14 6:30pm, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd 2116 E Union. Food prepared by local restaurants/caterers will be served. We hope all ages, groups, communities, businesses and organizations will be represented and will contribute art ideas.

The regular monthly meeting is to organize, plan and gather volunteers. We need volunteers right now to spread the word about the project and the three charettes.

The CD Garden Tour on June 4, 2011, will raise funds and matching labor and donations to support the Public Art Project.

Come join us tonight and find out how you can participate!!
