We walked by the new Alleycat Acres garden last night and found two volunteers hard at work tending to the sprouts of what will soon be a corner lot full of produce at 22nd & Union.
The gardeners told us that all of the plants are fall-weather friendly, and include garlic, parsnips, spinach, and other leafy greens. The next big project will come later in the month, after they get a new set of starts to plant in the remaining space.
Anyone from the neighborhood is invited to get involved in the project. You can find the volunteers out there every Wednesday night from 6pm to 8pm.
