More summer fun & parade at PNW Black Community Festival

The Pacific NW Black Community Festival is being described as a rebirth of a community tradition that began 50 years ago, and it’s all happening this weekend at Sam Smith Park and Jimi Hendrix Park on top of the I-90 lid.

They’re planning food, entertainment, vendors, and youth activities from noon to 9pm today, Saturday (8/14) and Sunday.

Plus on Sunday you can enjoy the third parade of the year, with the Mardi Gras Parade running down MLK from Powell Barnett Park at Jefferson down to the NW African American Museum on S. Massachusetts. That starts at 1pm.

Sam Smith park is located next to the museum at 2300 S. Massachusetts.

  1. This neighborhood is just recovering from the crowd and noise from last weekends seafair and umoja fest! another frickin parade? I hope they try to keep the volume down at this event. You could hear the umojafest speakers for blocks!

  2. I, for one, live very close to this event and enjoy the sights, the sounds, the activity. Living in a thriving community comes with positive sounds. I much prefer these sounds to those of the helicopters, sirens and gunshots.

  3. Try spelling the event name correctly, you may sound less than the jackass to appear to be.
