Bike to Work day a bit cool, but well attended

It's Bike To Work Day, and we've biked up and then way down to Madrona Park, where Bridget and Emmett are set up with signs, muffins, and a ton of coffee. They're both work at Payscale, and their coworkers pitched in to help buy the goodies, with the Leschi Starbucks donating the coffee.

They've had about 20 people stop by, with others "biking wih purpose" passing by.

Biggest challenge so far: keeping the wily park crows from picking at the pastries.

Up next: Hiawatha Place

8:50AM - Here's one we didn't see on the list yesterday. This station is set up
above i90 near the entrance to the bike/ped tunnel. They've had 364
bikers so far thus morning, and are offering water bottles, repair
help, maps, stickers, and more. They'll be here until 9am.
8:57AM - Another station surprise: Darigold is set up on the i90 trail near
Rainier, offer chocolate milk for cyclists. They'll be here for a few
minute after 9.
9:01AM - Now at Working Dogs and Cafe Weekend on Hiawatha, just north of
Charles. They've had 150-200 folks stop by this morning, offering
coffee, water, bottles, and bike help. Working Dog specializes in
commuter bikes.
9:18AM - Here at Seattle U I ran into Chris, who I also saw here last year.
He's counted 178 people, which he says is more than last year. You've
got more time tk hit him up for coffee and water bottles- he'll be out
till 10am.

Now: back uphill to HQ. We're tired....

Every day is Bike to work day for me (except today--I have Friday's off!).
It's great to see the increase in bike traffic, now if we could just get more people riding regularly.

I wish they would have a stand selling $10 helmets, like they used to on Bicycle Sunday.

Working Dog
Cool folks there at Working Dog cycles. The owner once let me wash my hands in his sink after I suffered an on-the-road flat repair.
