Suspicious Circumstance
-
Yesterday a couple had their dog stolen by what a neighbor described as a person in a white Lexus. As they were out putting up flyers today, some people stopped to say that they had the dog and bought it for a few bucks from someone in a white Lexus. And they helpfully offered to return the dog for $1000 cash, which the couple agreed to. They're now meeting the rewardees to exchange cash for dog, and helpfully let police know that they'd be walking around with large amounts of cash on their person. Police call the whole situation "hanky" and are trying to keep tabs on the transaction.
The man with the dog is afraid of police and won't do the deal if they're around, and will be taking the dog owner to an unspecified house nearby to trade cash for animal.

RE: not sure what time, it was after 230 pm but before 6 pm
That was the dog-reward/ransom story - the dog owners ended up there after starting out further up the hill. Full details here:
