Car vs. car vs. pole at 20th & Main

All the wackyness from the streets of Seattle's East Precinct on February 8th, 2010(!):

9:26AM - 500 28th Ave - Stolen Vehicle - An unoccupied stolen vehicle was found and recovered by an officer
9:34AM - 100 E. Edgar St. - Burglary - Signs of a burglary at a residence. Owner is waiting outside for police to respond
10:34AM - Stolen Vehicle - re: a suspicious vehicle plate at a location we missed: "it's coming up hot in our license plate recognition camera system"
11:48AM - 20th & Madison - Hit & Run - White mini-van spotted by an officer in a hit and run. Vehicle headed northbound on 22nd. "I'm not staying up with him because he's going pretty fast."
Update: Citizens last saw him westbound on Harrison towards Broadway. Described as a construction-type van with a rack on the top
Update x2: Just struck another vehicle at Boylston & E. Republican
Update x3: Suspect out of the vehicle, running westbound.
Update x4: Suspect in custody - under control. Sounds like he was caught by Officer Sundeen at Summit & Republican
Update x5: Several more vehicles found damaged
Update x6: A real rampage. Sounds like the same vehicle was involved in a Hit & Run 1300 13th South too
Update x7: Surprise! The '93 dodge Caravan was stolen
12:32PM - Cherry & E. Temple - Accident - Motorcycle vs. vehicle, with injuries
1:42PM - 100 11th Ave E - Domestic Disturbance - Caller says her ex-bf and ex-husband are refusing to let her inside
2:02PM - 300 29th Ave S. - Suspicious Circumstance - Caller thinks two transients are illegally making use of the bathroom in a unit of the building
2:19PM - 20th S. & S. Main - Accident - Vehicle vs. pole
3:42PM - 200 28th Ave S. - Welfare Check - A woman is down on the ground in front of a house, possibly intoxicated. She was seen driving around a short time ago
3:49PM - 12th S. & S. King - Accident - Bicyclist is down after being thrown 20ft in collision with car. 2nd var vs. bike at this spot in a week
5:31PM - 400 23rd Ave - Pursuit - A juvenile is leading police on a pursuit through the Garfield Teen Life Center. Last see southbound. Black male, white tshirt, black pants.
Update: One held at gunpoint at 2500 E. Alder
Update: Suspect is actually 20 years old, and was wanted on a warrant for residential burglary. He's now in custody at the East Precinct, being attended to by medics for cuts and bruises
5:57PM - 1400 Martin Luther King Jr. Way Seattle - Disturbance - Woman in a disturbance with a resident who refuses to pay her for unspecified services delivered
7:21PM - 1600 11th Ave - Disturbance - Intoxicated man refusing to leave Value Village
8:06PM - 1600 21st Ave - Assault - Two parties call 911 about the other, with one claiming they were spit upon

I saw the van come ripping through the light - he turned wildly from 20th onto Madison and was really flying, completely side-swiped an old saab (or something like that). Luckily the cop was at the light heading north on madison already, seemed a little slow out of the gate and the van was SUPER reckless - flying into oncoming lane and everything. Wonder if it was a kid or something that doesn't know how to drive yet?
Crazy - and really pure "luck" the police car was at the right place at the right time otherwise that van was gone...
hooray for police presence!

witness to original hit and run
The driver was a known heroin dealer who they said seemed to be 'dopey' as they arrested him. He had black tar heroin on his person as well as throwing knives.

Did you see where the side-swiped victim vehicle went? The police were trying to find the victim to help establish the legal trail which led to catching Dopey.

The original side-swipe victim eventually pulled over right by the Safeway (just south/uphill from it) on Madison. I assumed he would call 911 to tell them about what happened and that a car was already in pursuit... perhaps I was wrong?
I'm not exactly sure, but the car was an old 80's ish peugot or saab?? The guy got out after he pulled over and seemed ok, was checking the damage.
It was very surreal ...
