It's easy to think of our neighborhood's youth as an amorphous "other." If you don't have any teenage kids in your family, you probably don't get many options to talk to them and get to know who they are and what kind of challenges they face. And with problems ranging from youth violence to family economics to a failing educational system, they've got plenty to deal with.
Tomorrow night is your chance to make some connections, as Hidmo is holding a "State of the Youth" event at Garfield Community Center. The goal is have a frank dialogue between youth and adults, and try to bridge some of the youth and culture-related divides in the community.
Check it out.
