The big topic at today's press conference was the Seattle Times report that the October 22nd arson of police vehicles involved pipe bomb and a note threatening the lives of police:
Was a threatening note left at the arson scene? "We have collected evidence from the scene, I can't comment specifically on the evidence... But let me be clear we would never hide anything in any way if we knew it was going to be a danger to police officers."
Have officers been warned about threats found at the arson? "We have not had any information from that scene that directly threatened a police officer."
New thoughts on connection between arson & shooting? Two separate teams are working on each, meeting daily to coordinate on information. Nothing firm yet to tie them together. But it's "a huge leap" for someone to jump from attacks against property to attacks against an officer.
Were pipe bombs used in the 10/22 arson? Pugel doesn't know, and if he did, he wouldn't be able to talk about it
Any new details on the vehicle description? "If we can't identify a vehicle, we will push [the details] out to the public." Officer Sweeney's description was a mid-80s, late-70s, small, possibly an import, possibly a 2-door light-colored or beige car.
Have officers been stopping vehicles that match? "We're not sure at this level"
Update on video search? Been analyzing "huge amounts" of video footage. "There have been some cars that showed up more than once." There is one suspicious car they can't identify.
Any new evidence that either of the two officers were specifically targeted? "Absolutely not"
