Memorial growing at shooting scene

This morning the scene of the shooting has cleared of all but a single
police command vehicle. A memorial has started to grow on the
northwest corner of 29th and Yesler, marking the location of where the
officer's vehicle was parked when the unknown suspects drove up and
opened fire.

We haven't gotten official word of when the next press conference will
be held. But it's expected some time thus afternoon and we'll have
full coverage here in CDNews and at our new

2:15PM - Update:

The Seattle Times has identified the officer who was killed as a 39
year old man who lived in Marysville:

The dead officer was identified by an uncle as Timothy Brenton, a
field-training officer, who was with a female student officer, who was
wounded in the shooting.

Brenton, 39, lived in Marysville. He was married with two young
children, a boy and a girl, said the uncle, Jon Brenton, 50, of
Kingston. He had been with the department nearly nine years.


The next press conference is shcheduled for around 3pm. Jonah will be

As a resident of the CD and the son of an officer that was killed in the-Line-of-Duty I want to thank you and Jonah for your excellent coverage of this incident. You are doing a much better job then the traditional media!
