Last week we talked about the 6 new traffic cameras that were coming to the neighborhood in 2010. Sometimes the city works faster than expected, as cameras have already been installed at 23rd & Cherry:

They look pretty fancy, on dual-axis, 360 degree mechanical mounts. And there's two in that intersection: one above the northbound lanes, and one over the eastbound lanes.
Note that these are not red-light ticket dispensing cameras. They're intended as a "smart traffic management" system that will be used to monitor traffic flow and blocking incidents on the city's arterials. However, one is mounted adjacent to the big-brother security cameras that were installed around the Garfield Community Center back in the spring:
