Snow!

It looks like additional flurries overnight has left us with an inch or two on the ground. Major roadways like 23rd Ave are frozen over, but vehicles are making their way slowly down the street. Side streets have snow sitting on them.

The National Weather Service says we can expect additional snow showers before noon today that could add 1-2 more inches onto what we already have:

Snow showers likely, mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Breezy, with a east southeast wind 14 to 17 mph increasing to between 22 and 25 mph. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Stay tuned - I'm heading out for a walking tour now with live photo updates.  Don't forget to upload your photos or videos of the snow in your part of the hood.

Great service! byleelefever6 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
This has been a big help this morning Scott. We had a tentative brunch, but it's looking like your coverage has helped us see it may not be the best day to risk it. Happy too, to hear that the iphone and camera are safe and secure. Phew!

Thanks! Things are melting pretty rapidly. Most of the arterials are bare & wet now, so you'll probably be ok if you can make it down your residential street.
what snow.. byeasterner6 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
tee hee.... I'm from the east coast originally. I always get a good snicker when it snows around here... OK, OK it usually does get icy and there's not salt or sand trucks (nor does anyone put on snow tires) so I generally don't encourage people to drive, but you can't measure it in inches yet ;-) (there's probably about 3/4 of an inch right now)

Looks like the 27 is running ok? If it can make it up yesler then it can't be too bad (assuming its still coming up yesler). I just don't want to get stuck in udist or something with the 48 unable to make it back. Sigh..I know I'm going to regret this!!!

Check your routes carefully. Many have established snow routes to avoid the steepest hills and will skip some stops. For example, I saw that the #11 that usually goes down Madison was taking Union & MLK instead.

Glad I stayed home this morning... byRhiannon6 months ago (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I was supposed to go to a class in Lower Queen Anne but didn't like my chances of getting stranded on the icy roads. Given the timing I probably would have been on the #2 that crashed on Union.

48 seems to be riding ok, just got back. Around noon I saw some 4's running too. Just now I saw a 27 pulled over on 23rd (it doesn't turn on 23rd) so thats not good. Saw 44's and some other larger buses running with chains, they looked prepared.
