Last week Leschi resident tkerans added a new listing to our neighborhood business directory:  King Creole Louisiana Gumbo & BBQ.   (originally previewed back in June)

The first review was glowing, so we went to check it out today for lunch.   Based on my experience, I'll definitely second the recommendation.  The crab & shrimp gumbo was delicious, and the BBQ chicken was really good too.

The chef, Kinsey, has been in the Seattle area for 6 years, but he is originally from Louisiana.   He told me that they've got big plans underway to add more tables both inside and out, and will be expanding the menu to include po'boy sandwiches within the next month.

We all need get out and support our neighborhood businesses, so go check it out when you get a chance.  I think you'll like it.

Where? byNoah Iliinsky September 22, 2008 (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
For notices like these, it would help if the address were prominently displayed. They are at 2908 E. Cherry, for everyone who is curious.

I'll be sure to try lunch there.

Had the potato salad and a rack of ribs last week on a whim. Both were delicious!
They are going to have veggie options too byJessica September 23, 2008 (0 votes) (report abuse) (reply)
I just stopped by there and asked about vegetarian options. At the moment they don't have anything other than beans and potato salad, but they said that several people have asked about a gumbo with tofu or similar, so they are going to come up with something.

Tried it tonite based on your reviews. Nice people and great food. Wish they had a few tables besides the bar at the window. My friend said they should have an easel style sign out on the sidewalk so you could see they are there from Cherry :)

I ate there Saturday (dinner plate with ribs and chicken) and last night (gumbo, sweet potato pie, banana pudding). Definitely top tier and highly recommended.
